Floodlight - Very Wideband Parameterizer
The Very Wideband Parameterizer (VWBP) uses a combination of
analog, optical, and digital signal processing to deliver
sustained computing throughput in excess of 120 GFLOPS. The VWBP
analyzes several hundred megaHertz of RF in real time, employing
advanced analog dynamic range, cross talk, and intermodulation
product analysis to ensure sufficient signal quality for accurate
analog to digital conversion and subsequent processing. One of
ISA's custom analog down-converters appears below. An aggregate
sampling rate of more than a billion samples per second digitizes
and feeds the RF signal to signal processing software running on
Sun host computers, where parameterization takes place. The
parameterization process produces descriptor words suitable for
both automatic and manual follow-on processing.
